Thomson Geer offer a structured eight week program where clerks learn through a combination of hands-on experience, training, coaching and observation. This program will run (approximately) from late November 2017 through to mid February 2018 (excluding Christmas break).

There are opportunities for their clerks to continue working with them in casual paralegal and administrative position in between the clerkship and graduate programs (subject, of course, to study loads).

All of their clerks have the opportunity to:

• Attend client meetings
• Observe court proceedings
• Conduct legal research
• Develop technical skills in areas such as drafting, due diligence and discovery
• Participate in team meetings, training and continuing legal education programs

They will be supported by a supervising partner, a mentor and a secretary. Their well-resourced corporate services team will be there to assist throughout the program.

Students who complete a clerkship with the firm will be eligible to be considered for a position in the firm’s next graduate program, commencing in 2019. This program runs for 12 months and includes rotations among different practice areas to help determine the area of law which best suits you.
