The end of last year was marked by the celebration of the HMAS Stalwart Commissioning. On the 13th of November last year and together with her commander Steve McCracken, the commissioning ceremony of the second Supply Class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOT) HMAS Stalwart was carried out. On a spectacular morning in Western Australia, the ceremony was presided over by the Chief of the Royal Australian Navy, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan. Also present at the ceremony, among others, were the Minister for the Defense Industry, Melissa Price, the Honorary Consul of Spain in Western Australia, Enric Tarraso, and, as guest of honour, the Governor of Western Australia, the Honorable Kim Beazley.

During speeches by Commodore Earley (Deputy Commander, Fleet) and Commander McCracken, the growing relationship and partnership between the Australian Navy and Navantia was recognized, with Vice Admiral Noonan referring to NUSHIP Stalwart as “magnificent”. Due to border closures in Western Australia, the ceremony was broadcast on various social media channels.
